What is Toeic ?

What is Toefl ?

TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. The test is designed to measure the English proficiency of non-English speaking people and is divided into three sections. The test is timed for each section and uses multiple-choice questions with four possible choices for each question.

Beginning July 1995 the test of TOEFL will NO longer use:

Section 1 Listening Comprehension

This section evaluates your understanding of spoken English in North America. This section has three parts. You will have 35 minutes to answer 50 questions.

TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT)  he Test of English as a Foreign Language® (TOEFL®) is designed to assess English language skills of non-native speakers. Designed to be taken on the Internet, the TOEFL® iBT emphasizes integrated communication skills and communicative competence.

Educational Testing Services (ETS), developers of the TOEFL® iBT, have a cooperative agreement with ELS that allows students to take the official TOEFL® test at any ELS Language Center* throughout the US.

TOEFL Paper-based Test (PBT) he TOEFL® PBT test, administered in a paper-delivered format, takes about three and one-half hours to complete. There is also a 30-minute writing test, called

theTWE® test, which is required of everyone who takes the paper-delivered test. The total time to take both tests will be about four hours.

As you can see in the table below, the TOEFL PBT test has three sections plus the TWE writing test, all of which are mandatory. At least one question in each section must be answered and one essay must be written to earn a score.
